The UT Green Fund will put power in YOUR hands to make our campus as green as it can be! Here’s how it works:
- Students vote on March 2nd & 3rd in the Student Government elections to pay an extra $5 per semester to create a Green Fund of over $400,000 per year! (20 cents of every dollar will go to support financial aid, so this shouldn’t break the bank for anyone)
- Students, faculty, & Staff can apply for funding for ANY environmental project (human-powered gym equipment, research grants, new internship positions, ANYTHING…)
- A committee with majority student voting power will decide what to fund. ANY student will be eligible to serve on the committee.
Here’s the referendum you’ll see on the actual ballot:
I support the creation of a campus Green Fund to enhance environmental sustainability at The University of Texas at Austin. Items financed by the Green Fund may include infrastructure and efficiency improvement projects; ongoing internships, scholarships & research grants for students; or any other environmental initiative proposed by university students, faculty or staff. The Green Fund would be supported by an increase to students of $5.00 per regular semester and $2.50 per summer session for five years. A campus committee with majority student representation would oversee the Green Fund.
What can YOU do to make this vision a reality?
- Don’t forget to vote on the Green Fund on the Student Government ballot March 2nd & 3rd.
- Volunteer to spread the word during the campaign (and get a free “Think Green Fund” shirt!)
